Bitcoin Holds $76,000 as AI Stock Rout, ETF Outflows and MEXC Ban Rattle Crypto: November 7, 2026 Market Analysis
Quick Briefing
  • Here's the scoop: Bitcoin is holding strong around $76,000 even though the broader market is getting rocked. We're talking AI stocks plunging, interest rate hikes sticking around, massive cash leaving Bitcoin ETFs, and altcoins getting absolutely clobbered. It seems like institutions are treating BTC as the crypto safe haven amidst all this chaos.
  • The big picture is that this resilience shows Bitcoin might be decoupling a bit, acting like a 'flight to quality' asset within crypto. While others panic sell, big institutional treasuries are still accumulating BTC. This could highlight its long-term potential as a core holding, and honestly, the altcoin market getting hammered might eventually create some seriously discounted entry points for the brave.
  • But, definitely watch out for $75,000. If Bitcoin breaks below that, we could see a lot of leveraged long positions get wiped out, pushing prices even lower. Continued outflows from the ETFs are a huge red flag, and the altcoin market is still super vulnerable. Plus, regulatory crackdowns like the MEXC ban add extra compliance risk for anyone using offshore exchanges. It's not a 'bottom' yet, just a deleveraging event.

Bitcoin barely moved on Friday. It closed near $75,944, flat on the day, after a week that sent ether to a three-month low and knocked more than 6% off Solana and XRP in a single session. The hull stayed put while the deck furniture went overboard. That gap is the real story of November 7, and most of today's headlines are different angles on it.

$BTC $ETH

Ten stories moving crypto today

1. Bitcoin stalls just above $75,000. BTC sits around $75,800 to $76,000, its weakest zone since the September rate hike, and roughly 40% below the October 2025 all-time high of $126,080.

2. The AI-stock rout hits first. Tech shares sold off hard on Thursday, with the Nasdaq down more than 5% in one session. Crypto sold with it, then failed to join Friday's equity bounce.

3. A hot jobs report cools rate hopes. October payrolls came in at 165,000 against roughly 65,000 expected, unemployment slipped to 4.1%, and the 10-year yield rose to 4.87%. Strong data means money stays expensive for longer.

4. Spot Bitcoin ETFs bleed. About $430 million left US funds on Thursday, with every fund in the red and Fidelity and BlackRock leading the exits. Reports say the outflows have now erased the year's net inflows.

5. The altcoin shelf collapses. Ether closed at $2,233, its lowest close in at least three months. Solana fell 6.64% to $89.14 and XRP dropped 7.56% to $1.206 on Thursday.

6. The US cuts MEXC off. On Friday, FinCEN ordered US financial institutions to stop processing transfers involving MEXC Global, citing at least $16 billion in illicit flows tied to Iranian, North Korean and Russian sanctions evasion and cybercrime.

7. Trump-linked tokens take the political hit. After a midterm result that favored Democrats, World Liberty Financial announced a WLFI buyback. The token is down about 10% since the vote and over 60% this year, while the TRUMP token hit a record low of $1.12 on November 5.

8. Institutions keep buying Bitcoin, not the rest. Strive bought 15,124 BTC in October and now holds 43,124, a clear sign that treasury demand is concentrating in the largest coin.

9. Tokenized stocks meet resistance. The OKX and ICE plan to trade tokenized US shares around the clock has drawn objections from dozens of listed companies, with one count near 60, including big-tech names.

10. Regulation keeps spreading abroad. Greece's draft bill proposes a 10% tax on crypto gains, Russia is opening regulated retail access to BTC, ETH and USDT, and Gnosis Pay disclosed a legacy-system data breach, with funds reported safe.

How the pieces connect

Read the list again and it is one chain, not ten events. Equities cracked first. The strong jobs print then took away the hope of quick rate relief, which hurts assets that pay no income. ETF holders sold into that, so spot demand thinned. Thin demand is exactly where altcoins break, because there is less depth under them.

Bitcoin held because its buyers are different. Treasury firms like Strive are not trading headlines. They are accumulating, and they showed up in a week when everyone else was leaving. Rio Times framed it as a flight to quality inside crypto, and the data supports that reading, with medium confidence. The exact split between jobs data and tech stocks is harder to pin down.

The MEXC order and the WLFI slide sit on a different track. They are policy stories, but they land in the same tape. A bigger crackdown on offshore venues raises compliance risk for traders who use them, and a political reset in Washington puts the Trump-linked token ecosystem under a spotlight it did not expect this quickly. MEXC says withdrawals continue and has opened an independent review, and the FinCEN order takes effect 30 days after Federal Register publication, so the real test is still ahead.

The weak coins did not fall because Bitcoin broke. They fell because the people holding them lost patience first.

What the derivatives say

CoinBelieve terminal data at the time of writing shows funding barely positive at 0.00604%, open interest near $5.36 billion, and a long and short split of 71.3% to 28.7%. That is a market that still leans long while price drifts lower, which is the uncomfortable combination. Recent liquidations hit both sides: a $7.57 million short wiped out on OKX near $76,600 and a $6.47 million long cleared on Bybit near $74,500. Price is being squeezed between those two levels.

The pain is two-way, but the crowding is one-way. If $75,000 gives way, a lot of long leverage sits in the path.

Short-term view: scalp

The weekend decides this. Bitcoin is trading barely above support near $75,775, and the area just under it is $75,000, a round number that also marks the 11-week low. A daily close below $75,000 would put mid-August levels in play and favor sellers. A reclaim of $76,005 and then $80,000 would be the first sign that dip buyers are back. Between those lines, expect chop, low volume and fast wicks, especially with a Saturday liquidity profile. For a scalper this is a range, not a trend. Size down and respect the edges.

Swing and investor view

The bigger picture is less dramatic than the headlines. Bitcoin is about 12% below its September peak of $86,603 and still nearly 30% above its June low of $58,559. The six-week slide has been orderly in the largest asset and rough in the smaller ones. The catalyst the swing view needs is a stabilization in AI-linked equities and a softer rate path into the December Fed meeting. Until one of those shows up, patience is the position.

Watchlist versus buy-now

Nothing here is an immediate buy for me. Bitcoin is the only name on the watchlist I would consider adding to, and only on a hold of $75,000 with improving ETF flows, not on a hunch. Ether, Solana and XRP are watchlist only. They are breaking down, and cheap can get cheaper when depth is thin. Anything tied to a political narrative, including WLFI and TRUMP, is high risk with no clear floor, and a buyback has not changed that yet. Exchange tokens connected to MEXC deserve extra caution until the order's effects are clear.

My honest view

I do not think this is a structural break. I also do not think it is a bottom. It looks like a deleveraging week in a market that still needs a reason to buy. The most useful signal in the next few days is not price, it is whether ETF flows turn from red to flat. If they do, the case for a base gets stronger. If outflows continue while Bitcoin holds, that is a market living on borrowed time.

Levels to watch: $75,000 support, $76,005 first resistance, $80,000 recovery zone, $86,603 September high.

What would change my mind: a stable close in tech stocks, two or more days of ETF inflows, or a clean break below $75,000 with rising open interest. Any of those shifts the plan.
