RLUSD is now available across Coinbase's retail and institutional products, giving Ripple's dollar-backed stablecoin access to a major cryptocurrency trading and custody platform. The launch supports deposits and withdrawals across XRP Ledger, Ethereum and Base, while some planned exchange features will arrive later.
Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin is now available through Coinbase, expanding its reach among retail traders, institutional investors and businesses that use the platform for digital asset trading and custody.
Announced on October 28, 2026, the integration covers Coinbase Retail, Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase Prime. Eligible customers can trade and manage RLUSD, while supported users can convert US dollars and other supported USD-denominated stablecoins into RLUSD at a 1:1 rate, subject to product and regional availability.
The launch supports three blockchain networks: XRP Ledger (XRPL), Ethereum and Base. This gives users multiple routes for transferring the stablecoin and places RLUSD within three distinct blockchain ecosystems.
Ripple reported in its announcement that RLUSD had surpassed $2.4 billion in market capitalization since launching in December 2024. The Coinbase integration adds another distribution channel, although its actual impact on trading volumes, circulation and institutional demand will become clearer over time.

What the Coinbase Launch Means for Users
RLUSD is available across three Coinbase services, each serving a different segment of the market. Coinbase Retail provides access for individual customers, Coinbase Exchange serves exchange traders, and Coinbase Prime is designed for institutional clients.
Under the announced integration, eligible users can trade and manage RLUSD through supported products. Deposits and withdrawals are supported across XRPL, Ethereum and Base, while eligible customers can convert US dollars and other supported USD-denominated stablecoins into RLUSD at a 1:1 rate.
Availability still depends on the user's jurisdiction and the specific Coinbase product. The announcement should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every feature is accessible to every customer.
There is also an important distinction between the features available at launch and those planned for later. Ripple said access for Coinbase Global Exchange customers would follow, including the ability to use RLUSD as collateral. Those features should be treated as future developments until their availability is confirmed.
For existing Coinbase customers, the integration provides another way to access RLUSD without necessarily needing to use a separate trading platform. For Ripple, it expands distribution through an established retail and institutional infrastructure provider.
Why Support Across Three Blockchains Matters
The addition of XRPL, Ethereum and Base is one of the most significant elements of the announcement. Blockchain support determines where users can transfer an asset and which wallets, applications and financial services can potentially integrate it.
XRP Ledger (XRPL)
XRPL is the native blockchain associated with XRP and supports the issuance and transfer of digital assets. RLUSD availability on XRPL gives users another dollar-denominated asset within this ecosystem, potentially supporting payments, transfers and other financial applications built around the network.
However, RLUSD and XRP are separate assets. Activity involving the stablecoin does not automatically translate into equivalent buying demand for XRP.
Ethereum
Ethereum connects RLUSD to a broad ecosystem of wallets, trading venues and decentralised finance applications. Support on Ethereum can make it easier for compatible services to integrate the stablecoin, although each platform must independently support the asset before users can access it there.
